NAFDAC APPROVES FLOXIUM! (JULY, 2007)
The drug regulatory
authority in Nigeria, NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug
Administration and Control) has approved the sales, distribution and
use of Floxium in Nigeria.
Floxium contains
levofloxacin, a broad spectrum, third generation fluoroquinolone
that is effective in the treatment of infections caused by gram +ve,
gram –ve, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. It is also effective in
the treatment of infections caused by intracellular pathogens. It
has been found useful as an adjunct therapy in the management of
tuberculosis.
This third generation
fluoroquinolone will offer significant value to doctors and patients
alike in management of bacteria infections.
